NSW Police arrest four, seize more than $8m cash as part of alleged international money laundering operation

 NSW Police have charged four people and made its largest single seizure of cash, as part of investigations into an alleged money laundering and drug syndicate operating out of Sydney with links to Asia.

Police seized $7.8 million from a home at Rhodes in Sydney's inner-west yesterday, which is where they believe the money was being counted and prepared for laundering.

The seizure included almost $5 million in cash stashed in the boot of a car.

"It was $3.1 million in the apartment, and then obviously a set of keys linking a vehicle to that apartment," State Crime Commander, Stuart Smith said.

Comanchero bikie boss Mark Buddle in police custody facing extradition to Australia

 Comanchero boss Mark Buddle has been detained in Turkey and could face extradition to Australia, local authorities have confirmed.  ABC News confirmed Mr Buddle, 44, was deported to Turkey from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) on Sunday, July 10, and taken into police custody in the capital, Ankara. Mr Buddle had been living in the self-declared republic after being granted a residency permit in August 2021. But in a statement from the republic's Ministry of Interior, officials said a decision was made to deport the bikie boss because he was "inconvenient" to public peace and security. Sydney Festival chair apologises over festival board's handling of Israeli sponsorship issue

 Sydney Festival chair David Kirk has apologised for the event's handling of a funding controversy. Dozens of artists have pulled out of the festival over its decision to accept $20,000 from the Israeli embassy for a dance performance.  The board has decided to keep the money. Kirk said the festival had put artists in a very difficult position. "They feel compromised, many of them, and many of them are being pressurised to withdraw their performances from the festival," he told RN Breakfast.
