Women on construction sites welcome NSW funding boost to increase numbers

 Ashley Schulz has been the only female carpenter on every construction site since her apprenticeship and she is ready for that to change. A $57.4 million state government funding boost is aimed at transitioning more workers into construction, and one part will be to put tools in young women's hands. The four-year program will partner with 139 high schools to give girls real life experience. For Ms Schulz the benefits for the industry are clear. Inner west light rail line to run limited services with CBD trams in February 2022

 Limited services on Sydney's troubled inner west light rail will return from February 2022 after testing confirmed different-sized trams from other lines can be used on the tracks. In October, major cracking was found in all 12 trams that ordinarily run on the Central to Dulwich line, forcing them to be decommissioned for up to 18 months. But today, NSW Transport Minister Rob Stokes announced that passengers won't be forced to use replacement buses for too much longer. "A limited service will be reintroduced from February next year using Citadis trains that are surplus to the requirements in the south-east light rail," Mr Stokes said.
